Catholic Schools Week 2011: A+ for America

Catholic Schools Week this year was dedicated to A+ for America, focusing on faith and education. Unfortunately, this year the massive winter storm cut our week short, leaving only two days to celebrate. Students and staff still had a great time with all the activities they could manage such as Book Fair, Jeopardy, spelling and religion bees, special persons lunch, and the annual volleyball game. Though it was short this year, Catholic Schools Week was a huge success!

Religion Bee

The Religion Bee is another competitive and exciting event during Catholic Schools Week. Everyone gave their best to make the event fun! Our winners for 1st-3rd grades were Gabriella Rueschhoff, Alec Nauman, and Luke Towery. The winners for 4th-8th grades were Shea Goessman, Maddie Bricka, and Ben Steger. Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is was also very successful and fun this year. All of our contestants did their very best and tackled some very challenging words! Our winners for 1st-3rd grades were Riley Bradshaw, Emma Smith, and Joshua Lee Ho. The winners for 4th-8th grades were Elise Weidner, Jake Percefull, and Josh Getz..   Special Persons Lunch and Book Fair

Both Special Persons Lunch and the Book Fair this year were really fun! Our students got to have lunch with a special person in their lives and then go into the library for the Book Fair. Our kitchen staff provided an excellent lunch for our guests and Mrs. King and her volunteers are very grateful for all those who supported the Book Fair and library. St. Joseph's School is very blessed to have such a wonderful and giving community!

Students and Staff Volleyball

This year's Students and Staff Volleyball game was played in front of the rest of the students, all of whom showed their school spirit by cheering loudly. The game was challenging but fun--some of the teachers were pretty sore the next day though!
